Though it's tempting to assume that House of Numbers film makers interviewed fringe conspiracy theorists to make the case that HIV does not cause AIDS, the experts in the film are actually high level government officials and virologists.
The film has been playing at international film festivals, collecting award after award. Worth a watch.

Thanks for the link. Why is this not surprising. It's eerily similar to the Lyme story....
I went to the HouseOfNumbers website and listened to a radio show interview with the director and the producer of the documentary. I was a little dismayed to hear how the host of the radio show accosted the filmmakers for their film and for seeking an unbiased view on the HIV - AIDS causal relationship. The radio show host continually echoed that people should listen to their doctors, take the drugs they are prescribed, and considered the film a "danger" - that it would only cause confusion, and cause people to not seek medical attention if they tested HIV+
The radio show host, I presume a gay male in San Francisco, is obviously educated and sharp minded. However, I couldn't help but think that he was completely stuck in the mind pattern in which the film was created to guard against. I was really surprised to see how one-tracked and closed to new ideas he was. I also get the impression that people that have lost loved ones and friends to AIDS just don't want to hear that it may have not been caused by HIV.
I have been taught my whole life that HIV causes AIDS - and that if you contract HIV, it's treated as a death sentence. Given the track record of BigPharma and our government on other issues such as obesity, cancer, and health and nutrition, I wouldn't doubt for a second that there are some false ideas being circulated by the government, pharmaceutical industry, and the scientific communities. In the short trailer, I wasn't even surprised to hear the allusion to nutrition being a factor in fending off HIV. But, again we circle back to the fact: There is no profit in nutrition; Which I think is a statement echoed by the co-discoverer of HIV!
It is unfortunate that the full film is not available on the web or through common distribution channels yet.
Jeremy,
I appreciate your thoughtful response and am not shocked to hear there is huge resistance to these ideas. What is striking to me is that you and Kim both pointed out very similar patterns in the official stance on other diseases and their "treatments." Could HIV/AIDS be another gaffe to add to the others?
To call another point of view "confusing" or a "danger" is intolerably condescending.
I'm far from an expert on this topic, so am looking forward to the U.S. release of the film.
